Genre: Romance/Drama

Author: Ye Fai Ye

“Of all the music that reached farthest into the heaven, it is the beating of a loving heart “

Henry Ward Beecher

Well to be frank I am not a fan of romantic genre. Be it the movies or novels. This is because they kind of have this over the top stories. The writers are to be blamed for the portrayal of the characters that you keep on wondering is this even possible in real life?

But I for a change decided not to cringe upon the romantic genre. I decided to check it out and tried to keep an open mind about this genre. Another reason was that the graphics seemed appealing to me. It was a novel which was kind of appearing again and again on my reading device. So I decided to give it a shot.

It did not turn out to be a bad decision at all. At first the story revolved around the cold relation shared by the protagonists of the story. They are Lu Jinnian and Qian Anhao. Both are in love with each other since high school yet do not acknowledge it due to various reasons. Add to that the drama in the form of Lu Jinnian’s stepmother Han. She hates him and never ever treats him properly.

So do the lovers meet in the end? Or does the story has to end in a tragedy like Romeo and Juliet? That’s for you to find out. The reason is I don’t want to give away the story . But be rest assured that there are a lot of twists in the story. The book has some 973 chapters in it.

The best part is that despite it being a lengthy book, it never gets boring. This has to be attributed to the imagination of the author. However there are a lot of references to intimate moments in the book. So I did get a little cringy. But those who love to read the genre might enjoy it. So yes I did enjoy the book which is a big thing. I loved the character of Lu Jinnian the most. The reason despite having his share of hardships he did not let his love falter away. But how I wished the character of Qian Anhao was a little bit stronger. Though she is shown to be a stronger person but at times she is shown to be too vulnerable to believe.

Overall the book was a good read. Do tell me about your experiences as well in the comments section. Wish you happy reading!!!
