Hope you all are doing well even in these difficult as well as uncertain times. Even if you are not, you do not need to worry or fret about it. As it aptly said that even tough times do subside . Keep a positive attitude. Keep yourself occupied with work . Use the time you have got in your hand for doing something productive. If you do want to learn something, upgrade yourself in this time . This is because the best time to do so.
I feel that this pandemic is actually a blessing in disguise. This is not because I am a self employed person but I do feel that this is an opportunity to work upon myself. Maybe I couldn’t have worked upon myself in a much better manner. Okay but if you do feel worried or anxious, feel free to comment about your feelings in the comments section or whatever medium you feel comfortable with. Though I am not a certified psychologist, but I do understand people and can feel what they might be going through. This is my promise that I will never let you feel alone or abandoned. The reason is simple: I do care for everyone belonging to this planet.
Now coming towards to my latest find in the fantastic world of web series. This web series is actually a sequel to one of the web series which I had written about earlier. Do take out some time to read the same. The web series I am talking about is called Girls Hostel.
Synopsis : The earlier season dealt with the rivalry which the Medical girls had with the Dental girls had in SVM’s college. Also the season dealt with how two best friends became the worst of enemies. The second season deals now with the Dental girls being shifted to a smaller hostel. Thanks to Ramya Mantri who is the antagonist being elected as the student body president. Also added to their woes are problems of water shortage and harassment by the boys who have actually named the hangout in front of the girls hostel as ‘Girls’ viewpoint‘ . One day, a tragedy occurs. This actually acts as a trigger and fuels the anger of the Dental girls. They want the student body president thrown out and have a new president. What was the tragedy that they had to face ? What strategies do they adopt to replace the student body president? Are they successful to replace their President? Or do they have to accept the antagonist? Find the answers to these questions by watching the web series.
Assessment : The second season of the web series tries to explore some really interesting facets about the student life. These are-1. student elections(student elections for a long time were banned in India. The reason was simple- clashes between the two rivals, damage to college property, vote for notes etc . Such things used to take place). This web series actually tries to highlight the importance student elections have in colleges or universities. 2. Another important thing it tries to bring in focus is the issue of stalking and harassment faced by women. Women even if dressed in proper clothes are subject to such issues. And the worst thing about such issues is that it is always the girls’ who are at fault. It is not the fault of the perpetrator. 3. It highlights the importance of healthy and fair competition. 4. It highlights the importance one’s voice can make if raised for the right cause. This I personally feel is really important in today’s times.
Coming to the positives and negatives of the show-
The positives: 1. The script and the story line is gripping .
2. The histrionics by all the actors are bang on and to the point. Special mention of Srishti Srivastava who actually shines as Jo or Anandi Joshi as she is known by her colleagues.
3. It tries to highlight some really gripping and important issues.
4. Ramya as the antagonist too shines in the series. The desperate attempts made by her so that she stays in power is very well reflected by her character.
5. The manner by which Zahira Ali tries to receive support after raising her voice is pretty interesting to watch.
6. Lots of hilarious moments which actually lead you too cackling a lot.
The negatives: 1. Use of a lot cuss words in the lingo used. This thing actually makes me cringe.
2. The way the boys are desperate enough to enter the hostel. That actually reflects a mentality of a pervert. This is an issue which really needs to be fought against.
The view: This one is a fantastic take on the issues which are actually gripping and need to be taken seriously. Also this one contains all the necessary emotions. You do not feel anywhere that there is an overdose of emotions. Lots of hilarious moments to laugh at. So, this one is a must watch. Do catch it up in your spare time. You wouldn’t regret it.
