“A good teacher can inspire hope; ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.”
Brad Henry
Continuing the series dedicated to the people who help us to shape our lives and help us make a better person- the teachers. I am sure we all have memories of our favorite as well as teachers who made life hell for all of us that you might have ended up bitching about them a lot. While on the other hand, the teachers whom we loved a lot we always tried to be in their good books . Isn’t it? If you do have such experiences I would love to hear it from you in the comments section; because believe me even I have had my fair share of teachers who were a pain in butt and were too annoying in nature.
The pick which I am about to write about talks about a group of students who are annoyed by their teachers and vice-versa. But what is the reason behind their annoyance ? Read on to find out more.
Story line: Dahavi Fa is a class of boys who are discriminated by their teachers and their fellow colleagues for failing the first term exams. Apart from that, their teachers have tagged them as goons due to their unruly behavior. This enrages them a lot and in anger end up destroying the school laboratory. This leads to the suspension of the entire class and involving the police.
However, there is one teacher who believes that these students can change their behavior if they are to be understood properly and given a right direction to life. He suggests his principal that he will undertake the task for reforming this bunch of notorious students by his own manner and that the management need not involve the police. How he undertakes the reformation of the students and how the students undergo a transformation apart from suggestions on how education system can be reformed forms the rest of the story.
Scrutiny: The movie attempts to explore how certain students face discrimination on the basis of the marks they receive. Though one might score less academically but one might have other talents is the message the movie tries to convey. Also, it tries to convey the message that excessive anger need not be always the solution to bring a change. Excessive anger is like a fire which fed more will only get stronger and causes harm in the long term.Change can also be brought in a constructive manner and with the help of discussion and deliberation instead of using force. This movie also attempts to look into how education can be reformed and advocates the earn while you learn for students who come from a background which does not enable them to afford education.Apart from that some reforms are too discussed in the movie. The only negatives is the usage of abusive language . But that is supposed to be natural as the students of this particular class belong to the lower strata of the society.
The Sentiment: A thought-provoking movie which actually should be included in your watch list . Do watch it for the fantastic acting chops by Atul Kulkarni, do watch it for the issues that ail our education system. Do watch it if you are willing to bring changes in the education system because the suggestions suggested are pretty good. Overall a movie which is worth your time . I am sure you too will be inspired by this great piece of cinema.
