“Dad you are like a dictionary- full of knowledge, but also outdated and occasionally used as a paperweight.”
-Anonymous
Remember the times when you were small and your parents especially your father taught you a lot of things. And you used to have a feeling deep down in your heart what a genius your father is. This was especially true when he fixed things without the help of a mechanic. But as times changed, so did technology rapidly and as age started catching up, he just found it a bit difficult to figure things out. And that is the time when he started looking up to his children for help in overcoming the technological gap. After all, one needs to keep up with times isn’t it? Also, if you do not keep up with the times, then you do seem pretty outdated . Besides, who wants to look outdated . Our parents do love to keep up with their children which is sort of welcoming but also a bit challenging at times. This week’s pick revolves around the same .
Synopsis: Tech Conversations with Dad revolves around two sons Chitvan and Jeetu teaching their fathers the nuances of the technology that is prevalent in today’s times. What could be seen as an exercise of a bonding between a father and a son turns out to be a demanding experience for both. Will the two sons be able to navigate their fathers through the technological jigsaw puzzle? Or will they end up being exasperated?
Assessment: This is a show which has some adult content in it so it is necessary to maintain some discretion for the same. But it is interesting to note that the technology which we sometimes take for granted as a tech-savvy generation that can prove a bit difficult to our parents. And that is obvious because it takes time and patience to figure things out. Also, with the pace, advances in technology are made, it does sometimes seem as if you are on a mad ride. So, it is heartening that awareness is made about the same in a comic manner. This is also a show which explores the relationship a father shares with his son , some of them too relatable that you end up laughing a lot and appreciating the brains behind the show.
Gajendra Rao steals the show as Jeetu’s father as he ends up asking a plethora of questions to his son which adds to his son’s frustration but also expresses the emotions a father has for his child. Also, the topics which seem to be a taboo or too brazen are dealt with great delicacy which is a rarity in a time where cheap humor and double-meaning dialogues have become prevalent. This surely comes as a welcoming breeze.
Also, the fact that it is a short series with mini episodes makes you feel super relaxed about the same unless the other times when you actually end up having to squeeze a lot of time to finish a web series. Believe me I really have to do it a lot of times thanks to the thought at the back of my mind your readers and subscribers are waiting. And you are accountable to them darling😩. This sometimes causes a lot of pain and frustration as well. But I guess you do motivate yourself to kick out the complacency and try to deliver because the show must go on isn’t it? I can go on rambling about the same but maybe that will be a topic for some other day😝.
The view: Overall, a watch which lets you have a lot of laughs as well as make you fall in love with the characters. This one is a hidden treasure which celebrates the relationship between a father and a son in a hilarious manner. So, if you haven’t watched it yet do go and watch it and if you have watched it do revisit it again to induce some nostalgia. After all it will be a good break from the usual monotony.
