“A friend is someone who makes it easy to believe in yourself.”

-Heidi Wills

The spirit of friendship is celebrated every year in the month of August on the first Sunday. This is the time when we pay gratitude to our friends who have stood behind us like walls and the bond has stood the tests of time. While not all friendships stand the test of time, there are some which do and maybe they remain special to us. So, do you have any friends who have stood behind you like a wall throughout time ? If you do, don’t ever leave them as such friends are really tough to find. These words come from a person who has only had friends in the fictional world as the real ones are too busy to communicate or just faded away with time. And while new ones did take place of the old ones, the time spent with some people do remain etched forever in your lives . You do hope that you will be part of the happy times which we do have with certain special ones. But I guess just like love , friendship is fickle too or just taken for granted and maybe that is the reason why not all bonds are able to withstand the tests of time.

Well, thankfully, at least in the reel world, you do not get to see such fickle friendships . So, dedicating this month to celebrating the spirit of yaari and friendship in the reel world.Since, friendship too needs to be raised a toast just like other emotions isn’t it?Keeping that thought in the mind, lets delve into our latest pick.

Synopsis: This week’s pick celebrates the bond girls share with other girls as friends. While it is often said that two girls cannot stand each other and there are often so called catfights between them; majority of the times this statement turns out to be false. This is because there are friendships among girls which are pretty inspiring and everyone does long to have friends like that. This week’s pick has such friends whose friendship is pretty endearing as well as inspiring that they definitely give us friendship goals.

The Interns explores the life of three girls named Lily , Viveka and Ana who work as interns at a social media agency named Digital Diva. Lily and Viveka are complete opposites. Viveka is a person who is very sincere and dedicated at her work while Lily is a person who is spontaneous and carefree by nature and loves to stay in the spotlight. Lily is supposed to have a picture perfect life as she is a person who lives her life on her own terms the only exception being that she has a very dominating boyfriend who is too much of himself( in short, a major red flag ). Enter Ana who is a feminist nazi by nature according to other people though she loves to call herself as a person who is assertive by nature. So, what binds these three together is the situations which they land themselves in along with sharing the common boss. How they traverse their way through the corporate jungle and end up having each other’s back is what forms the rest of the story.

Assessment: An endearing tale which celebrates female friendships with lots of realistic references that any woman can relate to. For instance, the problem of suffering from intense mood swings during the monthly menstrual cycle or for example not having your voice heard despite having great ideas. Or being the second fiddle to a male chauvinist. Or dumping the person who is in love in with you for another person only to have a rebound relationship. It also highlights the mayhem and the chaos one navigates through in the corporate world. But it gives a message of hope that if you do have good friends in your life then you can survive any storm of life. This show also raises a toast to those people in your life who have your back irrespective of the situation in life. Apart from this, it also has a lot of comical scenes which will have you laughing out loud .

The negatives of the show- too much promotion by Whisper turns you off that you feel like bashing it. Also, Sugandha feels like a case of overacting due to her loud and crass behaviour. Another irritating factor is in the form of Lily’s boyfriend whom you feel like punching hard and also in the form of Viveka’s aunt. Shivankit Singh Parihar who generally plays good roles feels damn irritating in this one.

The view: A show which celebrates the spirit of female friendship with a dash of humour and drama is how you end up describing this experience. So, do watch it for the camaraderie shared by the three girls and how they navigate through the curveballs thrown by life. Also, do watch it for getting tips of how to navigate through the corporate jungle by keeping yourself sane because it is supposed to be a crazy world out there.

Quote-Unquote: “Screw conventions, screw relationships, screw deadlines.”(The realization the girls have after having a tussle with the dramas in their life.)

Que: Who does Viveka find for collaboration after an influencer cancels their contract?

a. Rowdy Babua

b. Silly-Lily

c. Agnostic Dheer

d. Queen of Fashion
