• Just a few days back, we were celebrating the festival of lights. Diwali time brings a lot of emotions. This is the time when we feel the happiest as we get to spend a lot of time with our families. And our families mean everything to us isn’t it ? But families need not be defined by blood. They can be also in the form of the people you meet. This can be in the form of your friends, or the people you work with, or the people you encounter in some or the other form. And it is at this time when businesses promote their products at the maximum . Though this might be something related to consumerism and commercialization, but they also have something which makes them appealing. So, I thought why not make this late Diwali post something a bit different. Excited to read about it? Read on to find out more. These are in no particular order .

    1. Pantaloons- This ad has a tagline of This Diwali: Peheno Dil Ki Baat. I am sure a majority of you might have seen this ad on YouTube or any other social media platform. This one is about two best friends who are buying dresses for the festival and the one who is skeptical about pulling off a particular style has her bag swapped by her friend who encourages her. And then the skeptical friend listens to her friend and then the rest is as they say is history.

Why I loved this ad: This ad actually sends a very powerful message that one should not be afraid to experiment. And if a person believes in you, maybe you should give a try to carry out that person’s experiments. Who knows it might turn out to be better than you thought ?Also, this ad highlights the importance of friendship one has in one’s life.

    2. Parle- G: This is a very heart-touching advertisement which has a grandson and his grandmother as main protagonist. The grandson is stepping out of the house to go for Diwali shopping and asks the grandmother if she requires something. The grandmother gets nostalgic about how Diwali was celebrated in the old days. The rest of the advertisement is how the grandson tries to bring a smile on his grandmother’s smile.

Why I loved this ad: I loved this advertisement because this advertisement highlights the importance of celebrating a festival with your family. Celebrating a festival with your family keeps the tradition alive and always gives us a feel good feeling. Unless and until you have a family which doesn’t give you the love and security then that is supposed to be a different story. So, if you are wishing to celebrate the festival with your family or are missing home, maybe this advertisement can give you some inspiration to do the same next time. After all, isn’t home a great feeling ?

    3. Cadbury Celebrations: This is another heart-warming advertisement between a father and his daughter over how Diwali should be celebrated. The father suffers from a back pain. This makes the daughter say why does he have to go and visit every house . To this, the father gives a very lovely answer saying that what can be expressed in person cannot be expressed over text.

Why I loved this ad: The ads of this brand are generally very really very heart-touching in nature. But this one is really heart-warming. This is because it highlights the importance of social interactions . After all human beings are social creatures. And it is a different feeling when you meet the people whom you cherish face to face rather than sending them a text message. So, if you do have people whom you love and cherish, so do go out and meet them face to face. This is because they are going to love it and even you will be happy and satisfied that you were able to bring a smile on someone’s face.

    4. Sabhyta : This ad is a bit old which was aired two years ago but it gives a very heart-warming message. It shows a pregnant woman interviewing for the post. A woman offers her some parathas. The pregnant woman is reluctant at first but then eats. The rest of the advertisement is how the pregnant woman ends up getting the job she has applied for.

Why I loved this ad: This ad showed a compassionate side in a world which is either full of deadlines or stress. Also, when it is said that a woman cannot be friends with another woman, this one is a breath of fresh air. Also, the surprising end touches your heart .

So, how many of the above ads have you watched? And which ones are your favorite? Do tell me in the comments section. Do you have any particular favorites which celebrate the spirit of the festival. Do feel free to share with me. I would love to hear about the same. Also, I do hope that you enjoyed this little surprise from me . If you did enjoy this , maybe we can make it a feature which will appear in between from time to time. Do take care of yourselves and lots of love .

  • When a legend dies….

“Legends are not defined by their success, but by the impact they have on the lives of others.”

    -Anonymous

On 9th October 2024, a shocking news shook the foundation of the corporate world. The news was that the great Indian industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata had breathed his last in the famous hospital of Breach Candy due to age-related medical conditions. The man who was the former chairman of the conglomerate Tata Group was an inspiration to many which includes me as well. So, when this news broke out, I just went numb and could not digest the fact that the man who was my ideal as well as a person whom I looked up to in all aspects was no longer alive. Though, he might have left us, but he did teach us a lot of things through his work as well as by character.

Following are some of the life lessons that I learned from my idol who will hopefully continue to inspire me and guide me as I undertake this journey of life .

Lesson 1: Always aim for excellence – Excellence is not being the best but it is doing your best. Ratan Tata sir taught me that no matter, how small a work might be, it should be done with full integrity and dedication. And when you do that on a continuous basis, you do become an inspiration to others to put their best foot forward in each and every thing you do.

Lesson 2: Always be ethical in your conduct- Amongst all the business groups, Tata Group is a group that is synonymous with the qualities of integrity and ethical leadership. Ratan Tata sir ensured that Tata Group never ever lowered their standards in ethics and treated each and every stakeholder of its with respect and fairness.

Lesson 3: Foster trust and teamwork within the organization : This was made possible by highlighting the importance of a very important quality of an organization that is teamwork. When you empower people to take their own decisions as well as give them the freedom to take on the challenges and innovate, you are bound to be surprised by the level of output you are going to receive from your team members. Also, ensuring a sense of accountability amongst your team members is going to get a lot of results. It is very easy to put the blame on others but if we try to empathize and help our team member come up with a solution, this is going to benefit us in the long run.

Lesson 4: Embrace change: It is aptly said, change is the only constant in life. Ratan Tata sir successfully navigated his business through many transitions and was able to integrate new technologies and trends easily. And as the world changes its pace at a rapid pace, it is necessary to adapt. After all , one can either swim or die.

Lesson 5: Be sustainable- For many, climate change might be a farce. But, there are changes which are being witnessed in the environment. And environment is a topic which is really close to my heart. So, I do try to inculcate environment friendly practices wherever I can. This is because there ain’t a planet B.And I personally feel that everyone should integrate these practices. If not for us, at least we can make the Earth a better place for our future generations.

Lesson 6: Be empathetic and compassionate – One of the most defining traits of a great leader is the ability to be empathetic and compassionate . Everyone has their own battles to fight as well as are dealing with some or the other internal struggle. One need to be professional while climbing the corporate leader . But , a human touch while climbing the corporate leader can lead one to have an enriching experience as well as a better job satisfaction.

Lesson 7: Walk the talk—I have always noticed that people who walk the talk command the maximum respect, even from their worst enemies. This is because they are authentic in their thoughts, words, and deeds. They do not feel the need to seek external validation, but they listen to their hearts. So, question your topmost authority if you feel something is not fitting into your ethic system. This will make people around you respect you even more.

Lesson 8: Be humble and grounded- People always look up to the people who irrespective of whatever heights they have achieved keep their feet grounded. Humility is a trait that is really highly underappreciated but essential. After all, success can go to one’s head very easily. We must not let success go to our heads as it eventually leads to our downfall at some point of time. Be proud of the work you do, but do not let the achievements go to your head. After all, success is a very lousy teacher.

Lesson 9: Talk Less, Do More and always be true to your word- God has given us one mouth and two hands and two legs. The reason is simple- we are supposed to do more and talk less. But often, we do the opposite. So, maybe we can learn the same from the man who was an introvert but always delivered.

Lesson 10: If you take a decision, make sure to make it right- A lot of times we are faced with situations, where we are not sure whether the decision taken by us is correct or not. But Ratan Tata sir took a decision and made sure that the decision taken by him was correct. This quality speaks volumes about him as this enabled him to take risks and close some of the most successful deals in his career.

Lesson 11: Always give back to society- If you look into the contributions Ratan Tata sir made through his business group, very few corporate leaders can boast of how much they have given back to society. From the budget-friendly Nano to building hospitals to cater to cancer patients and pets to providing help during the difficult times – that man made sure that he always gave back to the society in some or the other form. And that according to me is the true essence of success. It is not the amount of material possessions you possess, but the amount of difference you make in other people’s lives.

I can go on but if I do, I think I might run out of space. There is so much that this man has offered throughout his life that only words will not suffice to pay tribute to this legend. I do pray to God that wherever he is, he will continue spreading his light and will always guide us through the legacy he has left. If you have any thoughts to share about this great man, do feel free to share the same in the comments section.

” A teacher’s job is to take a bunch of live wires and see that they are well-groomed.”

    -Darwin D. Martin

Since the end of the month is near, let’s wrap up the series dedicated to the ones who shape the future of human beings in a style. And this week’s pick,I personally feel is a great pick to conclude about the same. So, let’s dive in without any delay and try to find out more. After all, it will be after a year that we will be exploring these wonderful yet impactful human beings. And who knows the picks for the next year will be more interesting? If you have any picks, you want me to explore, you can recommend me about the same in the comments section. I would definitely love to take time to explore the same and end up writing about the same.

What would you do if you encountered a person who is trying to shape you into a better person but does it by putting a stern system in place? Will you rebel against the same or will you give in to the demands of the person?

Synopsis: Queen’s Classroom revolves around the lives of students of the sixth grade students and their newly hired class teacher Ma Yeo Jin whom the students refer to as the Witch. The reason she is referred to as the Witch is because she is strict about everything she does from the way she dresses to the way she interacts with her students which makes her appear cold and intimidating . It is not only the students who find her weird but also her fellow teachers. There is however only one exception who appreciates her personality as well as her unique way of teaching and that is the principal of the school who hired her. She has a unique way of teaching which is her way to prepare her students to face the real world. She gives concessions to the students who score well on their tests while the students that are bad in their tests are given punishments as well as elected the Class Presidents. The students get the shock of their lives when they get to know that their parents instead of disapproving of their class teacher appreciate the way she functions. But will the so-called Witch get her way and be able to teach her students real-world skills? Or will the students end up having another teacher ? Also, will the students be able to conform to the techniques of the witch teacher?Or will they end up rebelling against her ?

Assessment: This is a show that deals with a lot of topics which children tend to face in their school lives. For instance, the show showcases the issue of bullying which is a very serious problem faced by students in the school. It also highlights issues like of how some students manipulate other students to assert their dominance or how some students are treated as outcasts which can lead to children facing issues of inferiority complex or give them anxiety attacks for life. It also showcases how parents consider their children as their assets and put pressure on them to perform better for a better future. I , as a person thought that such a system existed in our country but it did give me a bit of shock that it existed in other parts of the world, especially in a country like South Korea. It also highlights the social disparity that existed between the rich and the poor sections of society and how some people are exploited by others. Corruption in the education sector is another topic which has been highlighted in the show.

Teacher Ma could have intervened in the problems faced by the students of her class as she is a person who loves to keep things in control. But instead, she allows the students to find solutions for their own problems thus teaching them how whatever actions one undertakes has its own consequences. Apart from this, she also teaches them why it is important to study and why students should not end up wasting their time on matters which seem attractive but do not have any value to them. Fantastic acting by Go Hyun Jung who portrays the role of Teacher Ma as well as the four main characters of the show who act as rebels against the teacher. Apart from this, the show through the four characters tries to give various messages like that of hope, resilience, optimism and how one should stand for what they believe is right even though the person in front of them tries to prove them wrong.

Though, you do feel a lot of anger for Teacher Ma a lot of times especially when she metes out her punishment but when you look at the big picture, there always seems to be a lesson hidden beneath it.

The only drawback is that the duration of the show is too long with each episode being 1 hour long which makes it difficult for people who are short on time really feel annoyed a lot of times as they have to literally squeeze time out of their busy schedules to finish the show.

The View: Though it can be a bit disturbing a lot of times, this one is a show that actually gives you a lot of lessons. Along with that, it also has great acting chops, a great story line and some harsh realities which one faces in life. But it also provides a silver lining by underlining the fact that no matter how tough times are there is always a solution to the problem or challenge faced. You do feel that there is a need of such teachers in today’s time who do love their students from the bottom of their hearts but do not show the same on their faces.

Baap Dialogue: “Pure curiosity about the world, that every human has the process of resolving that curiosity, is what studying is. You may think that studying is an obligation you don’t like to do, but studying  the highest privilege only humans are entitled to.” ( Teacher Ma to her students).
