Every human being aspires to live a good life. The definition of a good life varies from one person to another. For some , it might be to live a life full of meaningful experiences . For some it might be searching for new adventures. For some it might be earning a lot of money and living a luxurious life. Those who aspire to earn a lot of money and live a luxurious life always find ways to maximize their incomes. After all money is supposed to be an indicator of a successful life. A life which allows us to enjoy the so called comforts of life. But the question arises in mind- how to keep the stream of money flowing ? This is because it is required to fulfill the basic needs along with pleasures of life.

The answer to the question is supposed to lie in my latest pick in books- The Richest Man in Babylon. This book is written by George Samuel Clason. He was an American author who was known for writing a series of informational pamphlets about being thrifty and achieving financial independence.

The book dispenses financial advice through a collection of parables set 4000 years ago in ancient Babylon. The parables are told by a character named Arkad. He gives us the seven cures and 5 laws of gold. The 7 cures are the seven pieces of advice to generate money and wealth. While the 5 laws of gold is advice about how to protect and invest your wealth. He has also given other important financial advice like living within your means; investing in known sources of wealth; importance of long term saving and home ownership. The book is supposed to be a guide to personal finance; the principles of which are still relevant till date.

The book is a good read. One can appreciate the wisdom which Arkad advocates as to how to become rich . He shares his own experience along with experiences of other people who either became rich or poor due to their mistakes. The book is written in a parable style which makes it an interesting read. The only drawback I can see is that the book is written in old English so that can make it a bit difficult to read. This is especially the case if you are not familiar with it. The book might appear to be boring by its cover. But believe me it is not. What are you waiting for ? Go grab a copy and get some wisdom about how to grow your money.
