Be rest assured of the fact that the quality of the content delivered will never go down. However, can I make a small appeal to all the readers, subscribers as well as all the potential readers to help me spread the word ? I try to juggle my studies, my responsibilities as well as the blog. This blog needs to grow big so that it can reach out to more people. This will also help to cater to people’s watching and reading lists. And who knows? Maybe if we grow bigger and bigger, we can turn it into something valuable and put into more value. So do share the love and try to put in a positive word for the same. Will be super appreciative, thankful and grateful for the same.

Well, since it was our anniversary recently, so the recent pick also had to be that special. This week’s pick revolves around a person who wants to bring in a revolution in the field of education. Well does he bring a revolution? If so, how does he bring in the revolution?Read on to find out more.

Synopsis: Physics wallah tells us the story of Alakh Pandey, who began his journey as a Physics teacher at a small coaching centre. But wanting to bring a revolution in the field of education, he starts his journey as a You Tuber in 2014. He faces numerous hardships and hurdles while trying to bring in a revolution. But thanks to the indomitable spirit and the inspiration which he goes throughout his journey, he makes it big and ends up creating a revolution which he wanted to in the field of education. His sister, his mother and his younger brother play a huge role in supporting him. It is aptly said, ” Family is the biggest support system in the times of trouble.”This might not be true for everyone but for majority of them .

Assessment: Physics wallah as a web series was criticized by some people. Some people just prefer their entertainment to be dumb in nature just like them. But to put it in the words of the gorgeous Priyanka Chopra, “haters gonna hate, potatoes gonna potate, rotis gonna rotate who cares? You just love what you do .”Also, the fact that if there are praises there are brickbats cannot be denied. However in my personal opinion, the story tellers have done a great job to narrate the entire life of Alakh Pandey in just 6 episodes by highlighting the most important aspects of his life. The amount of struggles he faced before making it big as an ed-tech platform owner resonates with you. This actually acts as an inspiration and gives us an important lesson that one should not rest until your goal is achieved. If you are facing setbacks, pause and reflect but do not stop. Shreedhar Dubey shines as Alakh Pandey. Special mentions include Radha Bhatt as his sister, Anurag Thakur who plays his brother and adds a comical twist and last but not the least Anurag Arora who shines as the mentor turned enemy Vyom Upadhyay.

The view: This one is an interesting watch. If you are a fan of biographies then do include it in your watch list. Another reason to include it in your watch list is because of the amount of motivation this show provides. So, if you are lacking motivation or just want some motivation to get through a difficult journey, this one will provide you with enough motivation . The third reason why you should include this in your watch list is for the stellar performances of the actors. So, what are you waiting for ? Go watch the same and share your experiences.

Baap dialogue: “Baat paison ki nahi hai Prateek kyunki hum paison ke liye kabhi iss line mein aaye hi nahi baat bacchon ke future ki hai. “(Its not about money Prateek. The reason why we entered this field is not for money but for security of the kids’ future. )

A new week and yet another new pick . Hope you all had a lovely week after all it was the very first week of the new year. So, I am sure you all would have had a lovely time and would have surely geared up yourself for the year ahead . After all a new year always means doing things the right way and fixing up our bad habits to be a better version of ourselves. A nice lovely list of resolution might be made by most of us and you might be putting your best foot forward to fulfil them all. Even if you have failed till now, there is no need to despair. You can always mend your bad habits if you have the will, discipline and action to do so. But new year’s always a great start so the concept of new year resolutions.

Well, coming back to our pick of the week in the awesome world of movies where you can imagine yourself and put yourself in the shoes of the characters. Today’s pick is a beautiful story of a journalism student who dreams of making a mark in the field. Will she be able to score a job in the area she want or will she falter? Did you guess the movie ? Well the movie which I picked up for this week is “The devil wears Prada”.

Story line: The devil wears Prada tells us the story of a young recent journalist graduate Andrea Sachs who has graduated from the North Western University . She aspires to be a journalist for magazines like the New Yorker or the Vanity Fair. She ridicules the fashion industry but ends up being a junior personal assistant to Miranda Priestley, the editor in chief of Runway magazine. It is supposed to be a job that a million girls would die for but Andrea has a different opinion. But she tries to encourage herself saying that she just has to survive a year before she can pursue a better prospect.

Miranda humiliates her and tries to belittle her at every opportunity. To add salt to Andrea’s woes, is her senior at work and Miranda’s first personal assistant Emily Charlton. Andrea fumbles with her job initially just like any new intern would. But later on she decides to up her game with the help of the art director of the magazine Nigel. Nigel begins to teach her the ropes of fashion and Andrea starts implementing them and soon surprises everyone including her senior Emily.

This change in her appearance and work ethic surprises Miranda as well and she starts to hand over more challenging jobs. Does Andrea overcome all the obstacles thrown by her boss or does she succumb to the pressure? Also, does Andrea get herself the golden chance she has been waiting for or is something else in the store? To find the answers to the questions asked above you definitely need to watch the movie.

Scrutiny: Well this movie might feel a bit girlish or chic to some. This is because the movie revolves around the theme of fashion. But this movie is just not about fashion it has some beautiful lessons. This movie teaches us that no matter how bad the situation is, if one is willing to put the work one can easily overcome whatever challenges life throws at them. This movie also underlines the importance of the ‘never give up spirit’ which one must possess if one has to pursue their dreams. After all, it is aptly said, “the price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.”This movie also teaches us the lesson that we so become obsessed with our dreams, that we often forget the people who supported us the most . We should never forget our roots while trying to fly is what this movie conveys beautifully. Apart from the beautiful lessons offered, the other positives of the movie include:

    1. Beautiful acting by both the lead actresses- Meryl Streep as the no nonsense and vicious Miranda Priestley. Believe me I can’t imagine anyone doing that role . That lady has just nailed her role. Also, a huge shout out to our heroine of the story Anne Hathaway for her beautiful yet natural acting.
    2. The comic timing of the scenes in the movie. You get to see a lot of black humor and some hard punch lines which will have you laugh aloud.
    3. The right amount of emotions which does not make it some melodramatic crap.
      • As far as the negatives are concerned, I did not find any.

Sentiment: If you are someone who is a fan of chic humor or of fashion, then this comedy drama must be on your watch list without any fail. Watch it for the beautiful performances by the lead actresses as well as the beautiful lessons it offers. If you are not the one who enjoys chic humor then you can certainly give this one a complete miss. But I don’t want you to regret it so you can definitely a watch at least once. This one’s a thumbs up from me though people might or may not agree with me.

  • A shrewd kingmaker

    Author: Ashwin Sanghi

    Genre: Historical- Drama

“You can’t win the game until you are not focussed.”

Its the third week of the year. Hope things are going well for all. A lot of harvest festivals are being celebrated in the country. So, happiest wishes to all for their respective occasions. May these harvest festivals bring a lot of happiness, wealth and health to you and your families. Despite the celebrations on, I thought I shouldn’t miss on your weekly recommendations. After all, I am sure you must be eagerly waiting for your weekly updates in the same manner I am eager to write. Though sometimes, it feels like a difficult task but the sense of responsibility and accountability which I feel towards you all keeps me on my toes. So, that means have to deliver you the content on time facing issues like laziness, procrastination:p

So, coming to this week’s pick- This week’s pick revolves around a person who acted as a kingmaker in the ancient times to one of the most powerful kings and united our country into a single, powerful unit. This he achieved through his diplomacy tactics and a highly shrewd mind. The person I am talking about was also a highly revered teacher, the author of one of the most revered books of economics and statehood- Arthashastra. He was also the one who was responsible for making Chandragupta Maurya the king- Chanakya. But after around 2500 years ago, history repeats itself how? Read on to find out more below-

About the book: Chanakya’s Chant narrates the story of how Chandragupta Maurya became the king of united Bharat and one of the most powerful kingdoms- Magadh. But it all seemed lost until it was discovered one person- Pandit Gangasagar Mishra through an ancient inscription.

Pandit Gangasagar Mishra was a poor brahmin who becomes a puppeteer to a host of ambitious yet foolish individuals . He has a single dream to witness Chandini Gupta, a daughter of a Dalit man rise to the highest ranks of power. Will he be able to fulfil his dream amidst the challenges of casteist and communal hatred? Will Chandini Gupta – his so called star protagonist be able to rise up to the challenge and become the Prime Minister of India ?

Analysis: This book contrasts the past events with the present. It rolls back and forth showing us how events take place in both the past and present. In the past, the son of a person from a humble background was trained by one of the finest teachers to become the king of united India. In the present, a daughter who just had the tool of education was trained by one of the finest teachers and kingmakers to rise up the ranks of power. It is interesting to note that the author could think in such a progressive manner that apart from a male protagonist, he chose to make a female character the second lead. This is a good thing.

The book also tries to connect a link between the movie industry, spirituality, business, politics and crime. The connection between these is so interesting that one does end up giving it a thought about how things function. The book also has beautiful insights as the author has fit in different quotes and references seamlessly in the story line. These insights have been fit so beautifully that they feel as if the author has written it by himself. This is a talent thtat deserves a huge round of applause.

Verdict: For those who love to read historical fiction, they must have this one on their reading list. A beautiful story line which is gripping by nature and does not have a single dull moment. The author seems to have put in a lot of effort and research while writing the prolific piece. Also, the second lead being a female makes it way ahead of its time. Generally female lead characters are not much explored. So, this is a welcome change. Then what are you waiting for?Go ahead and grab a copy of yours. Do add it to your reading list and share your experiences about the same.

Cite Bite: ” Battles are won and lost before they are fought.”
