” The true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer.”

    Nolan Bohnell

How many of us have actually have the dream of doing something which will help fuel our own dreams and not someone else’s dream ? A majority of us do but how many actually are ready to take the plunge ? A very few. A lot of us are of the opinion what if things don’t go as they are planned? What if I have to get out of my comfort zone ? What if the sense of security which we are enjoying with our current jobs that gets lost? But we often forget or kill our dreams for a sense of security which is false.

Being an entrepreneur is not an easy task. It requires a lot of dedication, hardwork, struggle , ability to think out of the box , problem solving skills and lot more. Even though it is not an easy job, but it is rewarding in the long run. The reason why I am talking about this is simple- my latest pick talks about the journey of a man who took a leap of faith from being a civil engineer to being a big name in the field of construction.

Thus, presenting to you my latest pick in the awesome world of books- Pithai te Phikwe.

About the book: The book starts with a kidney transplant operation which the protagonist of the book has to undergo. As he awaits for the transplant, he starts remembering his life story. Anil Patel, the person on whom the book is based on was a small town boy. His father was a state Government servant while his mother was a housewife. He had a huge family which consisted of 4 brothers and 2 sisters . He started his journey as a civil engineer at Gujarat State Regional State Transport and then went on to undertake a transition from India to Botswana to become a big name in the field of construction. He faced a lot of challenges in his work but it was his sheer drive and motivation from his father which helped him through all of this.

Analysis: This book tries to portray the life of a simple village boy who started his journey from a small village in Gujarat and then went on to become a big name in Botswana. He did not have any experience as such in business. But he had two things which kept him moving- his sheer drive and his ability along with his father’s motivational words which kept him motivated and helped him establish himself in a country which was not known to him. We often hear a person to be successful but do we understand the efforts undertaken by him/ her ?

The book also highlights the fact that how taking a leap of faith can be rewarding. This book has important lessons that are the need of the hour.

Verdict: This book is a regional book written in Marathi. It portrays the journey of an industrialist in a simple manner. Read it to understand what it takes to become a prominent name in one’s field. Read it for the lessons that can be learnt . Read it if you want to male a transition and are afraid to do so. Maybe the book will help you make a decision for good and help face the uncertainty.

This is the final post of the Freedom month special. Just like the previous two, this one deals with people in uniform. You guys might be thinking that this girl is obsessed with people in uniform. But that is not the case. It is just that these people never get the due respect which they deserve even after doing so much for our respective countries. So, I thought why not pay them tribute on such a special occasion?Believe me, from now on I have decided to dedicate the month of August to the people of uniform every year. By taking this step, I am sure I will be able to give them the respect due to them. What will you do to show your support to the people in uniform ? Please let me know your thoughts in the comments section. Would surely love to hear it from you guys.

So, presenting to you my latest pick in the fabulous world of movies- a story which is inspired by a true event, a story which went on to create a historic moment in India. A moment which reiterated the words of former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, “Unless India stands up to the world. no one will respect us. In this world, fear has no place. Only strength respects strength.” Well, the movie which I am talking about is Parmanu- the story of Pokhran.

Story line: Parmanu recounts the events which led to India’s first nuclear test being conducted. In 1995, Ashwat Raina suggests the ministers to perform a retaliatory test in response to the recent nuclear missile tests by China. However, he is ridiculed by everyone. But the Prime Minister Office secretary asks him to keep his plan brief. But India’s first nuclear test ends up in a failure . Ashwat is made a scapegoat and asked to resign.

In 1998, he is approached again by the new Prime Minister Office secretary who questions the failure. Ashwat explains the reason for the same. The new secretary after hearing his side, decides to give him a second chance. Will Ashwat be able to prove himself ? Are there any difficulties he faces in the journey ? Watch the movie to find out the answers for the same.

Scrutiny: This movie tries to recreate the scenario by which India conducted its first nuclear test. The movie explores the struggles faced by Ashwat and his team to perform the tests. Coming to what I liked about the movie-

    1. Superb acting by the lead actor John Abraham. Believe me, he is actually one of the most under rated actors in the industry, Initially, he did not make great choices ; but now he ensures that he manages to impress.
    2. The story line though a little bit of masala was added, but the research undertaken is great. So, kudos to the screenwriters and scriptwriters. It is because of themthat the movie has a great story.
    3. Foot tapping music– This movie has every genre from the inspiring to the heartbreaking to ones which you can listening to on loop.
    4. The tenacity and determination shown by the lead character despite facing a number of challenges.
    5. The beautiful visuals in and around Pokhran. Believe me, after watching the movie I had Pokhran added to my travel list.

The negatives – I could not find any such . Though I did find the movie a little over the top at some places.

The sentiment: This one is also a must watch . Watch it for the spectacular performance of John Abraham. Watch it for the fictional yet realistic recreation of one of the most historic moments. Watch it for showing your mark of respect towards people in uniform. Watch it for your dose of motivation. Hope you guys to enjoy it. Would love to hear from you about the same.

Since, August is the month when our country gained independence, so I decided to dedicate August as the month of freedom. Also, another reason behind this decision was the fact that India celebrated 75 years of independence. So, wishing you all a happy month of freedom. What are your thoughts on freedom? I would love to hear about the same in the comments section.

After a power packed book review of a courageous IPS officer , as part of my month of freedom celebrations, presenting to you yet another story of valor. This too belongs to a woman in uniform as well. Though a fictional account, this one is also inspired by true events. And keeping in mind the theme, this one fits the bill perfectly. Sorry, for the fact that ,this too is a story of a woman. Its just a mere coincidence that my two recent blog posts feature women heroes. One from the real life and another from the fictional life.

New week, new start and obviously a new blog post to share with you guys. Believe me , it is more of a pleasure as well as a little daunting task when I have to bring something new on the table. There’s a whole lot of universe out there which is being waiting to be explored. But to be able to scan through the entire universe and have it delivered to you guys is no mean feat. However, when you are accountable to someone- someone who keeps you on your toes and asks you to deliver on time, there’s also a different level of excitement . To put it in the words of Franklin Roosevelt, “Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and thrill of creative effort. “ So, keeping in mind the thrill the journey offers, presenting to you the pick of this week- a power packed performance CODE M.

Synopsis: This one revolves around an encounter which is supposed to be a simple open and shut case. It involves killing of two people who are supposed to belong to a terrorist organization and are also responsible for killing an army officer as well in the firing that has taken place. An army lawyer Monica Mehra is roped in to solve the case and get the truth. She starts her investigating; but the army too rolls its sleeves and hires a defense counsel in their defense. The army counsel to Monica’s dismay is also supposedly to be her ex. So, will Monica Mehra be able to get to the bottom of the case ? Or will she face obstacles from the very people who have given her the job to investigate ? Watch the web series to find out the answers.

Assessment: This one deals with a woman who is both a beauty as well as brains. She knows her job pretty well. She is not afraid to get her hands dirty when it comes to doing her work. However, there are some who just consider her as an officer who sits in an AC cabin. But she through her behavior shows that she is no less than the boys. Her wit and sense of sarcasm manages to win the heart of the defense counsel brought in to fight the case for the Army. She is so impressive that the defense counsel too helps her in her investigation. This is what a strong female personality is all about- she creates an equal playing field even if the world thinks she is not capable of .

The positives of the show- 1. Gripping story line. Credit goes to the script writers who scripted an amazing script with a sensitive topic. There’s not a single dull moment. You as a viewer are kept hooked to your seats.

    2. Superb performance by the actors- Right from Jennifer Winget to Rajat Kapoor, everyone nails their roles perfectly.

    3. Handling of a topic which is pretty sensitive and could have stirred a controversy very easily.

    4. The way Monica Mehra tries to solve the case. Even though it is supposed to be a simple open and shut case, but as she starts investigating , she is blown away by the truth.

    5. The authenticity shown in the lead character- a lot of times characters of the show are often shown to be larger than life personalities. This somehow brings a sense of disbelief in the people who are watching the series. But this one differs. The lead character is shown to be just as humane as we are as she too has her share of struggles in her life.

    6. The groovy, catchy title track that you can tap your feet to. ” Chal bhag daud yeh hai fauj ki dahad” is one you will not stop humming to for a few days. This one’s going to be your go to anthem .

The negatives of the show- 1. The excess smoking and drinking scenes thus making this one to be watched under parental guidance.

The view : After Test Case, Alt Balaji once again springs a surprise which is worth watching. This one is a story of a strong woman who refuses to budge down. She is determined to fight for the truth even though she is facing a lot of struggles. Yes, there are certain scenes which makes it a watch under parental guidance but watch it for the gripping story line, power packed performances and for some shock. I enjoyed watching it and I am damn sure even you won’t regret it.
