” True love stories never have endings.”

    Richard Bach

Since love is in the air as the week of love has started , I thought why not give my readers and subscribers two different perspectives on the feeling. After all falling in love can be a life changing experience. It can either evolve you as a person for good or bad depending upon how you see it. So, do share your experiences in the comments section. I am sure each one of us has a story to tell.

Coming to the two different perspectives I am going to offer . The first one which I am about to write is going to explore the side wherein two people after falling out of love fall into love again . While the second one which I will be sharing the next week will explore how far love can go to bring back a person. So do stay tuned for further updates. Lets focus our energy on the first perspective which is explored in my latest pick – a web series named Minus One.

Synopsis: Minus One explores the lives of two individuals named Riya and Varun. Riya is a hippie girl who dreams of being a photographer . While on the other hand, Varun is a steward who dreams of being a pilot . Both used to date each other and were madly in love with one another at a a point of time . But circumstances forced them to break up with each other . So they decided to part ways mutually but remain best friends. They also decided that they will live in the same house but not as a couple but as flatmates. Sounds strange right? After all who can live together with an ex. So is their experiment successful? Are there any emotions involved ? If yes , what are those? Watch the web series to find out the answer to these questions.

Assessment: The web series is an interesting take on the modern dating scene . Two people who were in a live-in relationship and madly in love with one another. But circumstances forced them to grow apart and they decided to be friends. The positives of the show: 1. Interesting story line with two contrasting personalities as lead. 2. The beautiful house they live in . I loved the way they decorated their house . So , yes some home decor tips can be taken from the duo. 3. The interesting character of Mr. Tripathi, who is supposed to be their landlord. His predictions about the two and a unique charm to his personality makes him likeable. 4. The gorgeous Devika who is shown to be a considerate as well as an understanding character . She knows when to give space and when to draw the line. This is actually a very important thing in a relationship which very few people actually understand. 5. The lovely father Riya has . Only a father who treats his daughter like his apple of eye can be such an amazing man. Who wouldn’t want a father like him? So, yes the father also gets a huge thumbs up from me .

The negatives of the show: 1. The frequency at which cuss words are used by the lead actors. Why do the makers of the show and {this particularly holds true for any web series } have to use so many cuss words? Message can be conveyed in a pretty decent manner as well. No, its a big thumbs down from me if there’s a lot of cuss words involved. This is because it is just so uncool as opposed to thinking that it is cool. So, makers of any web series please take a note of this and avoid its unnecessary usage. Else it just makes you cringe . 2. The annoying couple in the form of Meera and Avinash. I literally ended up cringing at their characters. Why can’t people mind their own businesses ? Do they have to poke their nose in everyone’s life? 3. Another annoying character was Riya’s supposed to be boyfriend Nikhil. How can someone just change his stance just because Riya told him the truth after coming home. Wow! Who does that to your so called date! But never mind that is supposed to be a topic for some other day.

The view: The pros outweigh the cons. So, no complaints as far as viewing is concerned. Also, its a refreshing take on the modern dating scene and based on the personal experiences the director of the show had. Thus giving you some more reasons to watch. Give it a watch and do share your experiences about the show . Would love to hear from you as always.

It has been ages since I last read a Marathi novel . Not ages but a pretty long time. As far as I remember the last novel I read in this language was Sudhir Phadke’s autobiography Jagachya Paathivar. After that I did not explore the works in the language. Though believe me there are some really great works. But I guess that is true for every language’s literature. Would love to hear from you guys if you have any such classics in your language. Will surely try to feature in my blog. So do comment in the comments section about your favorite works in your in your respective mother tongue. I will surely make a note of it and feature it in the upcoming post.

About the book: The book is a collection of short stories based on her memories. These memories are based on her childhood, her tenure as a nurse and some incidents which happen everyday but are not taken note of. Each story has something different experience to offer . The reader feels as if he or she is actually a part of the story.

Analysis: The book is an attempt by the author to recollect her memories in the form of short stories. Each story whether it be a childhood memory or an experience as a nurse has a hidden message in it. Messages which are actually lessons for life. The positives of the book : 1. The simple and beautiful language used by the author. You really feel as if you are a part of the narration. 2. A variety of stories to select from as recounted by the author. So you do have a choice to start from any. 3. Beautiful description of the events taking place in the story which makes it an interesting read. 4. Lessons of life in every story. The negatives: 1. Some descriptions might be sensitive to some readers. The emotions involved in these descriptions are so intense that some might not be able to tolerate such tough feelings.

Verdict: This one is a must read. Plenty of stories with different themes to select from. Also each story contains a beautiful message in the form of life lessons. The simple and the beautiful language used makes it an interesting read. The reader feels as if he or she is a part of the author’s journey. Though some experiences in the book can be disturbing to read, but if the reader takes it in a positive manner it might help them overcome their phobias or over sensitivity to such topics. So do give it a read and share your experiences.

A good movie is always a great source of time pass. This is true especially if you are watching movies which are timeless classics. I happened to watch one such timeless classic upon my father’s recommendation. Yes I do take in people’s recommendations as well. So, if you have any recommendations you want me to review upon feel free to comment in the comments section. So, it so happened that I and my father were enacting a few dialogues from the movie with such conviction that we surely would have won some awards for the same:p Okay maybe I am exaggerating but those interesting dialogue delivery sessions actually made me watch the movie.

So, ladies and gentlemen presenting to you my latest pick in the awesome world of movies-Deewar.

Story line: The movie recounts the story of two brothers Ravi and Vijay Verma who struggle to survive in the slums. But eventually as time progresses, they find themselves on opposing sides of law. A wall has sprung up between the two brothers as they are drawn apart by fate and circumstances in a time of socio- political turmoil. One becomes a leading figure in the underworld. While on the other hand the other brother becomes a police inspector. One has all the materialistic possessions at his disposal. While on the other hand, the other brother has has his ethics and morality. In the battle between morality and immorality who emerges victorious? Does that victory make sense or is there any other emotion involved? Watch the movie to find the answers to these questions.

Scrutiny: The movie tries to explore how fate and circumstances in a time of socio- political turmoil can force two people to adopt different paths. The movie portrays this beautifully in the form of two brothers standing at the opposite ends of the law. The positives of the movie-1. Fantastic story line. Credit goes for this goes to the fantastic script writing by Javed Akhtar Sir and Salim Khan sir. 2. Impeccable histrionics by the lead actors. This includes Bacchan sir’s criminal act, Shashi Kapoor sir’s Inspector Ravi Verma act and obviously who can forget the iconic Maa of the movie Nirupa Roy? 3. Even the songs are great in this movie.

The negatives – The cuss words used which kind of blends in the script but makes you feel awkward.

The sentiment : This one is definitely worth giving a watch. The gripping story line, the histrionics by the lead actors, the action scenes makes it a complete package for movie lovers. Also , the screen play written by the famous screenwriter duo Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan sir leaves you with some great dialogues and memories. So do give the movie a watch and do share your favourite memories from the movie in the comments section. Waiting for your lovely feedback.
