What do you do when you have a New York Times Bestseller in your hand? You obviously become curious to explore. You become hungry to devour it. By devouring I mean you are just eager to flip through the pages and read it. This was exactly my reaction when I opened the book.

So, ladies and gentlemen presenting to you my latest pick in the awesome world of books- I, Steve: Steve Jobs in his own words.

About the book: The book is a series of the most thought provoking insights by Steve Jobs. It is an essential reading to know the person behind the phenomenal success of Apple. He was a person who made an indelible mark not only in the field of computing but also animation, apps, music and devices for personal use. He was the greatest visionary in the field of business of our era.

Analysis : The book is not a typical biography. It is a book which compiles anecdotes, thoughts and mantras that the famous entrepreneur used along with to their many successes and failures in professional and personal life. The book is an essential read for everyone who seeks innovative solutions and inspirations to their business regardless of size. The book is also a good read for those who want to know the genius mind of Steve Jobs.

Verdict: The book is a great way to discover the person who was behind the stunning success of Apple. He was the man who was responsible for building Apple the brand it is now. So, if you are an admirer of Steve Jobs, this book won’t disappoint you. Also, the book provides a timeline of his professional and personal life. Though it is not a detailed biography per se but it does provide a rough idea about his personality. If you want a detailed version of the genius Steve Jobs was as a person, I would suggest go for the biography written by Walter Issacson. But if you want to know the person quickly do give this book a read.

Starring: Zac Efron, Michelle Pfeiffer, Lea Michelle, Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel, Robert De Niro, Halle Berry

    Directed by: Garry Marshall

    Genre: Romantic Comedy

” The magic in new beginnings is truly the most powerful of them all.”

    Josiyah Martin

Since everyone is in the holiday mood, so I thought why not I too join the celebrations with you guys by recommending a movie of the same mood.

So, presenting to you my latest pick in the magical world of movies- New Year’s Eve. It is a romantic comedy directed by Garry Marshall. It is set on a one day holiday featuring an ensemble cast in a variety of stories intertwined.

Story line: The movie follows several interconnected stories of people experiencing various problems on New Year’s Eve. These include Claire Morgan’s final arrangements for the ball drop; Ingrid Withers quitting her job and completing a list of New Year resolutions with delivery man Paul; Kim Doyle having trouble with her teenage daughter; Randy, a comic book illustrator getting stuck with Elise, an aspiring singer and a couple more stories intertwined. Each story has an important message hidden in it. What is the message hidden in each story? Do the stories have a happy ending ? Or does some drama unfold? Do watch the movie to find it out.

Scrutiny: The plus points of the movie-1. The fun Ingrid and Paul have while completing the list of New Year resolutions made by her. 2. The beautiful bond of a father- daughter in the form of Claire Morgan and Stan Harris. 3. The soul rendering songs sung by Elise .

The negatives of the movie- 1. The plot can be a bit boring at times 2. The unnecessary competition shown between the two couples to claim the bonus offered for first child born on a New Year. Who considers a competition for giving birth to a child? It is a moment which is more of an emotional roller coaster than being a competition. After all a new member is going to enter this world in the form of a baby.

Sentiment: This one is a roller coaster of emotions. You will laugh. You will cry. You will cherish the moments that the characters try to give you. The movie is a good watch. One thing I failed to understand was why did this one get such a low rating ? I agree sometimes the story can be a bit boring. But believe me it is not that pathetic in nature as the IMDB claims it to be. According to me it is worth watching at least once because it contains a great message. So do not go on the ratings of IMDB if you are deciding to watch this one. Keep an open mind and decide for yourself.

Quote Unquote of the movie: ” What would you do today if you knew you would not fail. Now go out and do it.”
