” No matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.”

    Lupita Nyong’O

All of us have aspirations to make it big in some or the other way. After all it does gives us an immense sense of satisfaction after our dreams are fulfilled; even though the journey towards it is hell. But Winston Churchill has aptly said, ” When you are going through hell, keep going.”

This is exactly what is witnessed in my latest pick- Official Chukyagiri. This 5 episode series explores the life of an intern named Spandan in a MNC. Spandan is a small town boy who has landed in his city of dreams- Mumbai to make it big in the corporate world. He has landed an internship in one of the leading MNCs. But harsh reality begins to strike him when he has to face what he never imagined- office politics, rude bosses, measly stipends, taking credit for what is supposed to be your idea, sexual harassment . He faces it all even though life is a living hell for him . He is however supported by Mili, a fellow colleague at work. However even she withdraws her support when she sees him get involved with his boss. So, does Spandan survive the internship and get his job? Or does he pack his bags to go back where he came from? Watch the series to find out.

Now coming to the analysis part- The show is a good take on the struggles an intern faces during his job. You can resonate with the struggle faced by Spandan. Both Sunny Kaushal and Gopal Dutt shine as Spandan and janitor Chacha respectively. Sunny because of his character’s struggle which I as a viewer can relate to. And Gopal Dutt because of the practical philosophy advocated by him to survive the grind. Mithila Palkar feels underutilized because of the length of her role according to me. Ahana Kamra’s act as a power hungry person seems over the top. The story starts on a good track but falters at end. As a viewer you feel that the story should have ended on Spandan gaining success. But instead is focussed on Sumit Vyas which is unnecessary. So you can watch it repeatedly but after taking a few months break if you do wish to refresh your memory. Or else you can just watch it once and have fun.

” The struggle you are in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow.”

    Robert Tew

Rating: ** and 1/2 star( 1/2 star for Sunny Kaushal and Gopal Dutt)

  • Attitude is everything

    Author: Jeff Keller

    Genre: Motivational/self help

” Trust yourself, you have survived a lot and you will survive whatever is coming.”

    Robert Tew

Sometimes you do have situations when you really need an insight regarding life. So either you hear some motivational speaker speak or read an inspirational quote or end up watching a movie which inspires you or read a self help book. This helps us to regain perspective of how a particular situation can be dealt with. This is mostly needed when you feel like things are not going your way. You feel angry , frustrated and start questioning yourself. But we tend to forget that life is a beautiful journey with its own set of challenges and opportunities, highs and lows. Also watching others tread through their own set of problems courageously gives us courage. Isn’t it?

So presenting you my pick- Attitude is Everything. This book is written by Jeff Keller, a former lawyer who narrates his own life experiences. He was a successful lawyer but despite having it all, he did not live a life which was a contented one. To put it in his words, he lived a “very draining life.” Then by reading a lot of self help books, he decided to take a leap of faith to leave his lucrative practice and instead turn into a motivational speaker. He went on to establish himself as one of the finest by the power of positive thinking. He documents this and other ways one can go on to live life of his/ her dreams.

The book explores topics like how attitude determines everything, how to handle failures, power of networking, how to create a positive mindset etc. The book is a short one but provides important insights on how to deal with the challenges thrown to us in life. The author tries to convince the reader by giving various examples which makes it interesting to read . So overall the book is a good read especially for ones who love to read self help books. Also this book is beneficial for all those who want to grow in their lives. This is an important read because we need to remind ourselves that we are stronger than our sufferings. We are our own superheroes even if the world does not consider us one.

So do tell me about your views about this one. Would be happy to hear it from you. Till then happy reading and stay home and stay safe.

” Your struggles do not define you but they shape the person you become when you face them and overcome.”

    Genre: Sports/Comedy

    Directed by: Rajesh Mapuskar

” A man’s worth is no greater than his ambitions.”

    Marcus Aurelius

Cricket and Bollywood are two things which are worshiped like religion in a country like India. Our country is immensely crazy about these two things. One of the reason might be that it is a gateway to all things good- success, fame, fortune and what not. But how many actually live the dream or are able to live the dream ? A dream is seen by a lot of people to make it big in the field which they want. But how far do people go to actually realize them?

This question is explored and answered in the movie of the week- Ferrari ki Sawaari. This one chronicles the dream seen by a young boy named Kayo. He is a boy who is highly passionate about cricket. Added to that he is an extremely talented cricketer . His father tries to fulfill all the demands made by his boy even if that means emptying his savings . This irks his grandfather because he feels that the dream of being a cricketer is just a waste of time . Also , he has seen the ugly side of the game. As a result he does not want his grandson to suffer . But the father decides to bat for his son’s dream of playing in the Mecca of cricket world – the Lords. For that he goes to the extent of stealing a Ferrari which he realizes belongs to Sachin Tendulkar.

So, what all ordeals do the father has to face because of the stolen car? Does the owner of the car get to know his car is stolen? Is Kayo able to make the cut to play in the Lords? Watch the movie to find out the answers to these questions.

The analysis: This one by Rajesh Mapuskar is a roller coaster of emotions. It will make you laugh, cry , startle and root for the characters. It also explores the beautiful bond a father shares with his son. Generally , a son is close to his mother . But here the father tries to fulfill the role of the mother as well. So watch it for the emotions involved though a lot of times you might feel betrayed due to lack of logic. But sometimes even emotions beat logic right? The acting by Sharman Joshi is another reason why I would like you all to catch this one. Do catch this one and tell me your experiences about it. Will be waiting for your lovely comments. Catch you next week with a new pick . Till then lots of love.

” My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person he believed in me.”
